It would be high sticking for sure! and I think it would have to be a major & a game misconduct. Things I will do for our C- team.

Great job by the guys who played defense and our Goalie.

We went toe to toe with them and we just started. This could bode well (famous last words).

Took a shot to the ankle, but it's feeling better this morning.

Lets not get too cocky though. We need to work on line changes and letting people know which side you are coming off from.

And we need a hook for Tim

Honestly, I thought we fared quite well. Atleast we won't be total virgins going into our first game. And, things will come together after we get a few games under our belts.

Guys, I thought we all did well. Our D was fantastic. Nice job in net to Chris. Little more ice time and we may move from the C-, as I like to call it to the C1 league we all signed up for. As far as a hook for Tim, Gomer your in charge of finding one!

After seeing the Stingrays warm up last night, I thought we were doomed. But we came out right away and actually controlled the puck and the tempo for the first half of the game. Also, we were offsides very few times and I didn't see anything that would be considered a penalty. If we can continue to do just those 2 things, we'll get better in a hurry.

I did knock a guy down once that I probably would have been called for.

Tim, thought you did a great job last night, moving you to the power play line for sure. Two Goals on opening night, more than past 3 years on MJ.

In my limited experience, they usually don't call much...pretty much just let you play. Every once and a while, you'll inevitabley get nabbed with an inadvertant tripping call, or some doofus will lift your stick into his face resulting in high stick call, but other than that it's nothing more than off-sides and icing.

Don't forget if you sail a slapper over the cross bar, they'll blow the play dead then drop the puck outside the blueline like an offside.

AND...it's about damn time...they finally began allowing 2line passing starting last fall.

Several of us got a beautiful look at a "Too Many Men on the Ice" penalty.

On another side, I know its a no checking league, but how much contact can one do. I mean going into the corners and what not is ok? I guess the question is how aggressive can u get before u get called?

Well, the no-checking part is a bit vague to me. You definitely cannot make a hit as part of the play...open ice or along the boards. I have, however, played the body in cases like non-forcefully pressing an opponent into the boards (an easy rub-out) and when trying to remove the puck from the opponent I've used the "check the hands" manuever without ever being called. A certain amount of body work is allowed in the slot...more along the lines of non-violent pushing and bumping or standing your ground.

Alot will depend on the ref, the mood he's in that day, and whether or not he has any buddies on the other team.

Brady and I used to play inline with one of the refs, Matt Taylor. In fact Matt and I reffed most of the games back in the roller dome days.
